The Empress

Definition:

An invitation to be more receptive and allowing, a time of fertile creativity, and an opportunity to connect with your feminine energy.

Poem:

Love is the eternal spring.

All you have to do is bow your head and drink.

Rest softly in the grass

and let the sun kiss your face

as it does to all beings.

In the womb of creation,

there is no good and bad.

So forget your place in the false order

and remember your true essence.

Love doesn’t have to be earned.

Invitation:

I don’t personally connect with the Empress. In theory, I support everything it represents, but I think I’m just not that comfortable with my feminine, receptive energy. But strangely, this was one of the easiest poems to write. So maybe deep down, I am connected. And I think many of us have this contradictory relationship to the Empress because society devalues what it represents.

Here are three ways that you can connect with the Empress…

  • Journal Prompt: What is it like for me to receive? The Empress is associated with feminine energy (this has nothing to do with gender), which is more receptive and creative. To embrace the Empress, it often requires us to make ourselves more open to receiving help and support. By reflecting on your relationship with receiving, you can identify any blocks you may have around it.

  • Spend some time in nature to help connect you to sense of abundance and fertility associated with the Empress.

  • Journal Prompt:* What are some projects, relationships, practices, or ideas that I want to nurture right now? The Empress is associated with bringing something into the world, which often needs care and support to grow. So when this card comes up it’s a good idea to explore what aspect of your life is needing that support.
