“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

-Howard Thurman

The Coaching Process

The vision is to engage in a three-step process over five sessions to help you come into a deeper relationship with yourself and identify the next steps you want to take in your life. This will occur in weekly 50-minute meetings (or every two weeks) where I will create space for you to share and explore. You will also receive a workbook full of exercises and journal prompts you can work through outside of our sessions.

Ground

Nothing can change until there is a clear understanding of how things are right now. So this process will start with grounding into your life and taking an honest accounting about what’s working and what’s not.

To support this process, I may provide somatic techniques to help you settle the mind and body so that you can more easily tune into how you feel. The intention to create space for you to better understand exactly what you want to change and why.

After you’ve grounded, it’s time to imagine new possibilities. I will guide you through a series of creative exercises* (e.g. journaling, collages, drawing, etc.) that will allow your mind to freely connect with all of your far-flung wishes and desires. The key of this process is allowing yourself to dream without immediately getting bogged down with practicalities. The intention of this process is to expand your vision so you are more able to see new possibilities.

*It can sometimes feel uncomfortable engaging in creative practices if you don’t consider yourself a creative person. It’s important to remember that its not about the end result of these practices, but what you discover through them.

Integrate

Once you’ve explored, it’s time to translate the insights you’ve gained into next steps. We’ll start by reviewing all the work you’ve done in both steps and work together to identify patterns and key themes. From there, you’ll start to reflect on what you learned about yourself and identify one or two next steps towards what you want. Hopefully, you’ll walk away with some new tools and a deeper sense of clarity.

This process might be for you if….

  • You’ve achieved some success in your current work, but are feeling like it’s no longer a fit and are unsure about what direction you want to go.

  • You want to find work that is more fulfilling and aligned with your values, but not sure exactly what that would look like.

  • You are currently in a career transition or between jobs and want more clarity about where to go next.

  • You are interested in self-development and open to engaging in creative activities as a tool for self-exploration.

  • You understand that ultimately you are responsible for initiating positive change in your life, but want some support and guidance so that you can go through that process with more clarity and ease.

What will you leave with?

While the general steps will be the same, you will lead the process and I will adapt the program to your needs and interests. But no matter what direction the program takes, you will likely leave this program with:

  • Deeper clarity about your values and desires

  • Various tools and practices that you can utilize to support you in day-to-day life and in future transitions

  • Actionable, concrete next steps towards a more fulfilling direction in your life
