The Emperor

Definition:

Stand in your authentic power, create more structure and order in your life, and embrace your masculine energy.

Poem:

the redwood trunk soars to the sky

my small body swallowed in its shadow

filled with awe

what it is to stand in full power

not ashamed of the space you inhabit

knowing that your flourishing diminishes no one

and another’s growth is not a threat

but rather supports whole

yes the redwood stands taller than all

but it generously captures carbon, collects water, and provides shade

so others may thrive

Invitation:

The Emperor is the consort of the Empress. He represents the masculine principle, which is more active and strategic. This card can be an invitation to embrace your masculine energy (which again has nothing to do with gender). It’s also connected with not being afraid to take up space and use your power.

Here are some ways you can might with the energy of the Emperor…

  • Journal Prompt: What is your relationship with power? When you feel fully empowered, what does that look like? What helps you access more confidence in your abilities?

  • Take action: If you have tasks that you have been putting off, take one step towards that goal today. Moving forward, even on a small thing, can help you feel like you are taking leadership over your life.
