The Fool
Definition:
A new beginning, an auspicious sign to start a new project, venture, or relationship—a leap into the unknown, an invitation to see the world with fresh eyes.
Poem
What it is to begin again!
See the world fresh and new
So many let life weigh heavy
Succumbing to “it will always be this way”
Not you!
The one who sees the world with the eyes of a child
Who knows the miracle in a bird’s flight
And sees the joy in a dog’s play
You who leaps into possibility
Knowing you might fail
But choosing it anyway
Invitation:
The Fool carries such bright and joyful energy, but the name always gives me pause. I like to think of myself as a responsible person, and I don’t want to do anything foolish. But the truth is, when we try something new, we’re bound to make mistakes. We can’t anticipate all the challenges we’ll face along the way. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t say yes. We just need to tend to that part of ourselves that gets scared when we’re about to try something new.
To explore the energy of the fool, you could try:
Take a class or do an activity that you have never done before. Notice the excitement and fresh perspective that comes from trying something new, as well as any frustration or hesitancy that arises from being a beginner.
Take a walk around your neighborhood and imagine as if you have never seen it before. What do you notice that you wouldn’t if you were on autopilot?
Journal prompt: If you could be guaranteed of your safety and security, what would you do? I got this from Jessa Reed in an energy reading she did for Patreon. I think it’s a great question to explore the leaps you might want to take. Again, you don’t necessarily have to act on it, but it can help connect you to the new beginnings you want to explore.
